The artisan draws upon the creative fire of the Sun, and the Sun rules the sign of Leo. Often seen as the entertainer only, in the Temple of Witchcraft, we also draw parallels between the Leo figure and all the arts and crafts – performance like music and dance, as well as arts, graphics and crafts. Some of the deepest powers of this creative figure can be found in the blacksmithing gods, and the master of the forge, who brings the solar power down into the Earth.

For this ninth day of the Solstice Working, all solar and fire correspondences work well, including stones like citrine and amber, and scents such as frankincense and rosemary. The Sun card, with the child of light depicted upon it, is the Tarot card trump for the Sun, though the Strength or Lust card is the Card most strongly associated with Leo. The title Lust refers to the deep desire we have to the divine, and we often explore that through the creative passions.

Since this working will be a microcosm of the forces for the month when the Sun is in Leo, you might want to pull a Tarot Card, Rune, Ogham or any other divination omen before, or after the workings, to give yourself further insight.

Entering into a meditative state. Prepare yourself and your space.

On Day Eight of the Working, we call upon the Artisan God, the source of fire, forging our life within us.

We call upon the Artisan God

Upon the Wheel of Stars, the sign of Leo is often associated with the harvest, with the seeds of light bearing tangible results from our work. Here the artisan shows us the manifestations of our impulses and intentions. As we walk the Royal Road, we enter into a fire temple, a forge temple, where things can be made manifest through our Will.

There we meet the Artisan God, the God of Creative Fire.

Commune with the Artisan God. How does he manifest? And how does that inform you about your own creative passions?

The Artisan God of Leo teaches us, in the process of creation, to purify, to banish all that does not serve like the dross removed from metal being forged. He grants the power of the Witch to banish people, things and misfortunes that no longer serve.

The Artisan god teaches us to know our Craft intimately, whatever our Craft may be in this work, from the Craft of the Witch to all the arts and sciences.

The artisan teaches us how to raise the Serpent Power at the base of our spine, to the heart, and to listen to the heartbeat. Listen to the rhythm, the language of the heart, to know our own creative self.

Feel the power rise. Feel it merge with the Heart, and the Child that grows to maturity in your Heart.

Listen to the Rhythm and Voice of the Child to Guide your Art.

What do you need to remove?

What do you need to know?

What do you need to manifest?

(Pause)

Receive the Wisdom of the Artisan God.

We thank the Artisan God. Blessed be.

Return

What happens in this vision will help you unfold your experiences for the Month when the Sun occupies the sign of Leo.
