Middle Earth Magic: Inspired Ideas and Seasonal Spells for Your Enchanted Life
I grew up on a farm in West Virginia and learned much about herbs, trees, animals, gardening, foraging and so much about nature. I incorporate this wisdom I learned from elders in my family into my spellwork. When I finally left the farm, I majored in Medieval Studies, my attempt to emulate my idol, J.R.R. Tolkien. All these influences led me to my own blended brew which I call "middle earth magic," containing a mix of the modern and the time-tested "old ways."
Cardamom Coffee Crush
Cardamom is a spice East Indians have used to good effect, as they are the creators of the Kama Sutra. Called the “grains of paradise,” you can find it in any grocery store. Organic cardamom can be recognized by the green color of the pods. To get the highly desirable grains, crush the pods in your mortar and pestle and extract the seeds. You will need:
1 cinnamon stick
Cardamom from 6 pods
½ cup ground coffee beans
6 cups water
Cream or half & half
1 tablespoon honey or raw sugar
Break the cinnamon into pieces and grind together with the cardamom, then stir into the ground coffee. Make coffee as you usually do, whether with a French press or a coffee maker, for four cups brimming with bliss. The strong rich flavor does call for cream and sweetening, so you quite literally sweeten the pot, then serve it up for an amorous and energetic evening.
