Introducing Goddessing Heart: Living Compassionate Presence

Greetings PaganSquare readers! I am honored to be starting a blog here and sharing my perspective on sacred Goddess practice. I’ve been blogging at Goddessing From the Heart. My writing centers on affirming trauma survivors on their journey through Goddess Spirituality. I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from a university in the Midwest and work as a full-time college professor. You can connect with me at my page on Facebook (Goddessing From the Heart) and follow me @goddessingheart on Instagram and Twitter.

Purpose and Intention

What can I learn from this? That’s a question I constantly ask myself during difficult situations. Sometimes the answer appears instantly and sometimes it feels it will take my whole lifetime to unravel it. As a survivor of childhood trauma, there have been many times where I had no answers for what happened to me and for what to do with it.

As I’ve found my spiritual home in Goddess spirituality, I have not only experienced healing but have also felt my heart quicken with a deep sense of mission. The unfolding answer is connection–connection to self, to others, and to Goddess. My purpose here is to encourage you on your own spiritual journey as you search for meaning. Whether you are a trauma survivor yourself or a support person for someone who is, I hope Goddessing Heart will serve as a place of inspiration.

Selected Topics

My focus on this blog will be to interweave ideas from Goddess Spirituality, self-care, mental health and recovery from trauma. Some of the specific topics on which I’ll focus include:

·       Incorporating Goddess Spirituality into our relationship with nature, meditation, yoga and mindfulness.

·       Identifying trauma-sensitive topics as they relate to spirituality and healing.

·       Delving into the inner work of Goddess Spirituality through themes like oracle cards, tarot, runes, ritual, altars, and incantations.

·       Studying Thealogy in order to deepen our understanding of specific goddesses as well as to parse out modern interpretations of what it means to practice Goddess Spirituality.

·       Connecting our spirituality with creativity by drawing inspiration from various forms of artwork and sharing occasional arts and crafts projects you can complete on your own.

·       Examining our spiritual needs as we investigate how spiritual maturity and development unfolds within the context of Goddess Spirituality.

·       Exploring all things related to healthy ways to take care of ourselves and methods by which we can incorporate our spirituality into our self-care practices.

My desire is for my blogs to evolve into a conversation, one in which we hold sacred that which nourishes and enriches our lives. I’m looking forward to our dialogue!
