We’Moon Holy Days: Seasonal Blessings

In each edition of the We’Moon datebook, we feature one Holy Day writer who shares with us her unique perspectives of each of the eight holy days. This year, we have the pleasure of sharing the work of Oak Chezar. Oak is a radical Dyke, performance artist, Women's Studies professor, psychotherapist, writer, & semi-retired barbarian. She lives in a straw bale, womyn-built house. She just published "Trespassing", a memoir about Greenham Common Womyn's Peace Camp. Whilst working & playing towards the decimation of patriarchy & industrial civilization, she carries water. oakchezar@gmail.com

Lavish Lammas Love

. . .Lammas is the built-in moment, the true north of your inner compass for following what is right for you. Lammas is about gratitude, a true and deep emotion that can well up inside us when faced with the absolute magic of harvest, of gathering in our true heart work. . .

Daily Specials at the Temple
you are a priestess in the kitchen of necessity.
your hotplate and two-burner stove
its altar. the red pepper and golden squash
ancient as the sun and soil are mere tools
in your practical hands. your casserole
alchemy remains uncaptured but
video footage or microscopes.
manna is made
over a pyre you blessed with song
one day and with apathy another—
it's all the same
to your life-giving spells
who know how to heal while you're
solving other problems
the wind howls outside
and you give warmth
the hungry come and leave filled
while you hold up the world
as easy as flipping flapjacks
your $2 spatula a scepter
that turns blueberries and batter
into muscle and human dreams.
