A Month for Loki Idea

"Come to me in whatever form You want, and share with me whatever You choose."

It's almost July for Loki again, and because He is a Man of many faces, my kindred is talking about doing a ritual to ask Loki to show us a new face or facet of Himself - or Herself, as Lady Loki* has been the subject of much discussion lately. The main point, however, is to learn more about Loki. Lore is great and all, but people grow and change, and so do our Gods.

If it's of interest to you gentle readers, I could share some of the ritual tech, with the understanding that you'll adapt it as best suits your practice. I expect anyone who does this to ward, ground, center, and shield as suits their practices so that they have a routine of before and aftercare for themselves.

It's my hope that by sharing this, people will lose some of their fear of spiritual off-roading. Our Lore was recorded centuries ago by someone who doesn't share our faith; expecting everything to be just like it was then is like expecting an old friend from high school to look and act exactly the same as they were in high school, even though it's twenty years later. This doesn't mean what they were was bad, it's just different than it is now. I'm also hoping that it will help ease people's discomfort if they get some new UPG. What if there is something that your Deity can only share with you? What if there's a facet of Them that isn't commonly known because it's forgotten or brand new?

Now, if you're not a Lokean, perhaps there's Someone Else you'd like to do this for, and that sounds fabulous to me as well. We're also talking about doing this in August for Freyr, and in September for Freyja.

* I'm fascinated by Lady Loki; I can count the times that I've seen Her on one hand, and usually just in flashes. It's not because She's not welcome; I'm bisexual and my human partner is a woman - I think it's because I have a much higher comfort level with the Sacred Feminine, and so learning to trust a God is a lesson that I need to learn. It's the same reason that Freysdottir is my nom de Pagan; I almost went with Gerdasdottir, but Freyr put His foot down and said that I'm much better with honoring my Disir than my Alfar. And He is right, and so Freysdottir is my name now.
