Middle Earth Magic: Inspired Ideas and Seasonal Spells for Your Enchanted Life

I grew up on a farm in West Virginia and learned much about herbs, trees, animals, gardening, foraging  and so much about nature. I incorporate this wisdom I learned from elders in my family into my spellwork. When I finally left the farm, I majored in Medieval Studies, my attempt to emulate my idol, J.R.R. Tolkien. All these influences led me to my own blended brew which I call "middle earth magic," containing a mix of the modern and the time-tested "old ways."

Bejeweled Blessing: Waxing Moon Spell

The word “glamour” was originally the word for the ancient art of shifting one’s appearance and its effect on the beholder, which over the centuries became linked to the idea of “enhancing one’s beauty through artifice.” The arts of magic can still be used to accomplish this purpose; bear in mind that the truest beauty comes from within. You can enhance it greatly with this charm. This ritual is best performed during the waxing moon. Gather up:

Vervain, thistle, chamomile, and elderflower

Salt

Your favorite jewelry

To prepare for a night of true love, during the waxing moon take the rings, necklace, and earrings you are planning to wear for a special upcoming tryst and lay them on your altar.

Mix together the dried vervain, thistle, chamomile, and elderflower. Cover your jewelry with the herb mixture and then sprinkle salt on top. Hold the jewelry in your hands and say:

Bless these jewels and the hand and heart of the wearer with light and heaven above.

May all who look upon me see me through the eyes of love.
