My experience at Pagan Spirit Gathering 2014, Pt 1 of 9

I had so much to say from my adventure, the article I had written had a high enough word count to be considered a novel. So allow me to break things up for you by day. Read on!

So much happened at Pagan Spirit Gathering this year that there was no way to do a fraction of everything I wanted to do. I learned a lot, I met a lot of people, and I brought a lot back with me. In fact, I’m actually happy I didn’t go off-grid, because I would have forgotten a lot of those little things that happened in the spur of the moment had I not documented via Facebook with several notes and pictures. I readily admit I do not possess that journalistic quality many of my peers innately possess, and spiral notebooks? With all the rain we had, it would have turned into a clump of wet paper.

So without further ado, I would like to share with you all how my week went, Perhaps if you were there as well, you can add your own thoughts.

Saturday, June 14th:

I was still technically working, taking calls and such, but I was not doing any showings. (In case you didn’t know, I’m a leasing agent here in Chicago, which means I rent apartments.) Earlier in the week, I began writing out instructions to the other agent I work with, and my broker, so there was the least amount of miscommunication as possible. With PSG falling squarely during a Mercury retrograde, I didn’t want to leave anything to chance. So for mundane work, I spent the day sending out emails and phone calls to them and my clients so everyone was (hopefully) on the same page. It was a lot of work, that’s for sure!

Our home is almost always showroom quality, needing no more than fifteen minutes for company to stop by. So for me to stage days and even weeks ahead of time like most folks do is usually out of the question. But this year, my husband allowed me to start figuring stuff out a couple days early, so by Saturday, the living room was getting rather messy. Poor Ron could not use the main television in there – the giant widescreen 3D HD we got on a super clearance from Tiger Direct – the one that’s incredible for gaming, especially with the surround sound and double bass, though you do have to wear the special glasses like they give you at the theater in order to get the experience. (It’s because of that we rarely go to a movie theater.)

I got my grocery shopping done, which consisted of dry and canned goods plus lots of fruits and vegetables – most of which could sit in my fruit bowl - rotated daily to prevent spoilage. In fact, I might have been able to ditch the large cooler and instead just tote the one that holds a mere nine cans of pop. But I thought with ice, that may not be the smartest idea, so I went with the bigger one. I’m glad I brought that, because later that week, it served as an extra chair/table which I needed. And trust me, I was not living on canned ravioli, though it was nice to have a couple cans of that when I just felt worn out and not all that into food prep.

Saturday night, I double-checked everything that was on my list (“Bring all the things!” as they say), and I was able to get some Zzzz’s around 10pm. At 3am though, I was wide awake, so I was back in the living room, shuffling stuff around so my car Tetris could be accomplished in a single shot.

To be continued...
