Hedge Witch: Into the Wilds…

Let me take you on a journey through the wilds of nature and back to the roots and bones of witchcraft, a natural witchcraft that works with the seasons and all the natural items that Mother Nature provides drawing on magical folk lore with a dash of hedge witch and gypsy magic too.

Create your own Sun runes

Sun Runes

You can create your own set of sun runes (or cards if you are feeling particularly crafty).

You will need:

Pebbles, shells, crystal tumble stones, small slices of wood or glass pebbles.

Acrylic paint or permanent markers.

Think about the phases of the sun and any symbols that you associate with solar energy and assign each one a keyword and a meaning.  You could also make a set using images of crystals or animals that all correspond to the sun.

Then you can charge your divination set in the sunlight.

Use them as you would runes, casting them on a flat surface for a reading or drawing one from a bag to get the answer to a question.

Here are my suggestions but get creative and personalise them for your own set:

Sunrise – New beginnings, cleansing, find a direction

Midday – Health, energy, wisdom

Sunset – Release and let go, purification

Eclipse – Positive change, transformations

Rainbow – Pathways, hope, promise

Sun cross – Directions, choices, decisions

Clouds – Hidden, secrets, judgement

Eye – Knowledge, seek the truth, clarity

Wheel – Movement, speed, travel

Infinity – Longevity, time, love

Spiral – Journey, spirituality, divine

Triskelion – Life, living, do it!

Circle – Completion, comfort, happiness

The images don’t need to be complicated or detailed, you could even just write the words.

Rachel is a witch...has been for a very long time, not the green skinned warty kind obviously...the real sort - but she is also a working wife and mother living in Hampshire, England who has also been lucky enough to write and have published a growing stack of books on the Craft. She loves to learn she loves to study and continues to do so each and every day but has learned the most from actually getting outside and doing it. She regularly gives talks and workshops at pagan events. Rachel is also founder and an Elder at the Kitchen Witch online school of witchcraft. She likes to laugh...and eat cake...
