Ariadne's Tribe: Minoan Spirituality for the Modern World

Walk the sacred labyrinth with Ariadne, the Minotaur, the Great Mothers, Dionysus, and the rest of the Minoan family of deities. Ariadne's Tribe is an independent spiritual tradition that brings the deities of the ancient Minoans alive in the modern world. We're a revivalist tradition, not a reconstructionist one. We rely heavily on shared gnosis and the practical realities of Paganism in the modern world. Ariadne's thread reaches across the millennia to connect us with the divine. Will you follow where it leads?

Find out all about Ariadne's Tribe at ariadnestribe.com. We're an inclusive, welcoming tradition, open to all who share our love for the Minoan deities and respect for our fellow human beings.

New Second Edition of Ariadne's Thread Is in the Works!

Posted by on in Paths Blogs

The very first book I ever published about Minoan spirituality is Ariadne's Thread: Awakening the Wonders of the Ancient Minoans in Our Modern Lives. That was back in 2013, before I started the Ariadne's Tribe Facebook group and before Modern Minoan Paganism (MMP) had even begun to form in anyone's thoughts.

Ariadne's Thread is based on the set of Minoan-themed rituals I wrote for my second degree in a Wiccan coven back in the 1990s - a year's worth of seasonal rituals and a lifetime's worth of rites of passage. The coven I belonged to at the time helped me "road test" a lot of the rituals, which was very helpful. Then I added a large section about Minoan culture and religion and a mini-encyclopedia of deities and symbols to complete the book.

The thing is, in the time since Ariadne's Thread was published, we've learned a lot about Minoan culture and religion. We've developed deep relationships with the deities and have formed a spiritual practice that works for Pagans in the modern world. And we've discovered, among other things, that the Minoan deities would prefer that we use Bronze Age style ritual to connect with them - not Wiccan style ritual like I used in Ariadne's Thread, since Wicca is a 20th century creation. (I'm not criticizing Wicca here - I'm a third degree Wiccan priestess. I'm just saying that it's not appropriate for what we're doing in MMP).

I approached my publisher about updating Ariadne's Thread for a second edition that's more relevant to what we're doing now in Ariadne's Tribe. Understandably due to the economics of the situation, they weren't willing to organize a new edition. So I've gotten my rights back to the book and will be updating it (rewriting the whole thing, really) to be in keeping with Tribe spiritual practices. That way, it will be a useful reference for a long time to come.

If you've read the first edition of Ariadne's Thread and/or Labrys & Horns and have any comments or suggestions for the new second edition of Ariadne's Thread, please contact me via social media (Facebook, Twitter) or my website.

The fully revised and updated edition of Ariadne's Thread will be released on November 1, 2022.

In the name of the bee,
And of the butterfly,
And of the breeze, amen.
