Do you have creative offerings that you would like to share? We'Moon is now accepting submissions of art and writing for We'Moon 2017: StarDust. We would love to see your work!
In each edition of the We’Moon datebook, we feature one Holy Day writer who shares with us her unique perspectives of each of the eight holy days. This year, we have the pleasure of sharing the work of Oak Chezar. Oak is a radical Dyke, performance artist, Women's Studies professor, psychotherapist, writer, & semi-retired barbarian. She lives in a straw bale, womyn-built house. She just published "Trespassing", a memoir about Greenham Common Womyn's Peace Camp. Whilst working & playing towards the decimation of patriarchy & industrial civilization, she carries water. oakchezar@gmail.com

Mercury, planetary muse and mentor of our mental and communicative lives, appears to reverse its course three or four times a year...These periods give us permission to pause and go back over familiar territory, reflecting and giving second thoughts to dropped projects or miscommunications...It’s time to “recall the now” of the past and pay attention to underlying issues. Leave matters that lock in future commitments until Mercury goes direct.
May 18–June 11: As Mercury retraces its steps in Gemini, take the opportunity for a second look at how you are tending friendships. Redefine peer support to include the inner children.

Full Moonlight Riot
Oh moon, you don’t play fair.
Rising later and later each night like this,
and each night more unbelievably
full of light. Later and later I wait for you,
studying the undersides of leaves,
holding my breath, testing the strength of my will.
When in the dew and the depth of midnight
your other lovers float out from behind trees
and between shadows, I invite them to lounge at my side
in the wet grass and wait for you.
We wait for you together,
breathing mist, sipping the dark with our open eyes.
She giggles!
“Knock Knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Change.”
“Change Who?”
“Well, that’s always the question, isn’t it?”
The NEW ONES are stirring. Feel the vibration of Nature in February. Every-thing in potential, teeming underground, sap rising, hibernation ending. It can be hard to believe, sometimes, that change will come. Imbolc is Her promise.
As Above (the Equator):Imbolc/Candlemas is the day to honor the Goddess Brigit of Ireland, powerful in the success of Her worshippers’ adaptation. Her sacred flame was kept burning by priestesses, then by nuns, into the 16th century, and relit at Kildare in 1993. It is burning there tonight. Celebrants light every lamp in the home, build fires high, keep one candle burning, mindfully, all night long.
So Below (the Equator): In Brazil, on February 2nd, a day now consecrated to “Our Lady of Seafaring,” thousands of Candomble practitioners gather on the beaches at dawn, sending flower offerings out to sea for “The Queen of the Ocean,” the Goddess Yemanja, deity of fisher-people and shipwreck survivors, the female principle of creation, and the spirit of moonlight.
Greetings Imbolc! Blessings Candlemas! Offerings to the Sea!

HA! O Queen of Play!
We invoke you with this holy Breath of Life: HA!
Laughter, your gift to us; Joy, your sacrament
Mirth, your flaunt-in-the-face of stern fear:
fear of the underbelly, the belly, the female, the earth.
Come out from Shadow, all you reviled She-demons
Eris, Goddess of Chaos—Lilith, Dark Moon Goddess—
Laverna, Goddess of Rascals.
Kali-Ma, disrupt our demonizing habits
Help us face the Other within, smile into the mirror,
find ally beneath the monster masks—guffaw until we cry?
The deck is stacked, the planet running out of trumps.
Stakes are high, wrongdoing is no joke: How do we deal?
Coyote-woman, Isis, Morrigan—
Show us your shape-shifting tricks of transformation
Khandromas, trickster Dakinis of the rainbow,
Deepen the clever arts of Invention, of Resistance
Flip each day into a new game of unimagined Possibility.
Beguile us from old patterns. Charm us into Change.
She-Who-Jests, crack us up. Crack us Open.
A HA! Restore the Wild. A HO!
