We’Moon Holy Days: Seasonal Blessings

In each edition of the We’Moon datebook, we feature one Holy Day writer who shares with us her unique perspectives of each of the eight holy days. This year, we have the pleasure of sharing the work of Oak Chezar. Oak is a radical Dyke, performance artist, Women's Studies professor, psychotherapist, writer, & semi-retired barbarian. She lives in a straw bale, womyn-built house. She just published "Trespassing", a memoir about Greenham Common Womyn's Peace Camp. Whilst working & playing towards the decimation of patriarchy & industrial civilization, she carries water. oakchezar@gmail.com

Mercury Retrograde: Dancing backward through Gemini

b2ap3_thumbnail_Screen-Shot-2015-05-13-at-3.14.38-PM.png

Mercury, planetary muse and mentor of our mental and communicative lives, appears to reverse its course three or four times a year...These periods give us permission to pause and go back over familiar territory, reflecting and giving second thoughts to dropped projects or miscommunications...It’s time to “recall the now” of the past and pay attention to underlying issues. Leave matters that lock in future commitments until Mercury goes direct.
May 18–June 11: As Mercury retraces its steps in Gemini, take the opportunity for a second look at how you are tending friendships. Redefine peer support to include the inner children.

Playmate

I was hanging by my knees
on the highest high wire
when I caught sight of you
pumping your swing
with all the might
of your wings,
soaring higher and higher.
I hollered “Wow!”
and I think that you
recognized me with a “Whee . . .”

Yes, this life is a soar and a swing
for she who can see
the high wires and wings.

And this life is a silly rhyme for she who’s
ripped the gag from her throat to sing.
And it’s a hop, skip, and a jump for she who
has hacked the shackles from her feet.

And this whole world is a prayer where she
daily files the callus from off her heart.

Yes; then it is fun and then it is free, the
holy mess of our lives won so relentlessly.
