A Divine Womb of Light: The Alchemy of the Goddess

A Divine Womb of Light is an exploration of the Sacred Feminine and the application of Her transformative energies. These writings will have the intent and focus of inspiring and quickening within the individual a thirst for deeper connection and opening to the magick and gnosis of the Goddess in all of Her forms. She is the Mother, the Uraeus, the Muse, the Warrior, and the Healer, to name a few. SHE is the cycle of life and death and all that is held between; and my goal is to share the wisdom of her Womb of Light that all may claim their Divine birthright.

Prelude:The Beauty of a New Darkness

An Astrological Tale

 PRELUDE

Luna was the most beloved of the illustrious actors in the renowned Cosmic Theater. She had been elevated to the coveted title of “Luminary” very early in her career and was most noted for the ease in which she transitioned from one role to the next. Unlike most of the players in the world renowned “Celestial Troupe” she rarely remained in a role for more than a few days and, even at that, there was most often a change for her at intermission into the next character. She actually enjoyed this changeability and being able each month to put a fresh face on the same characterizations she had portrayed just the month prior.

Luna sat in the darkness of her black velvet dressing room, preparing herself for the archetypes she would portray for the next few days.  She loved this time of the year as the Fall deepened into its chilly harvests and night crowded in earlier as the business of the day wound down. And, as she sighed deeply into her preparations, she thought about how during this season, more than any other, she could palpably feel the magick of each of her transformations and their effects on those who set aside the time to see her perform. Everything about this season had a strange aura of both the release of death and the renewal of life and she plucked a bit of energy from each to bring her characterizations to life.

Some years, her roles called her directly into the spotlight. In others, she remained cloaked in darkness, sometimes only a tiny piece of her visible, as she became a vessel of release that cut swiftly and accurately. But, for this run, Luna was preparing for her favorite version and although her beautiful face would remain cloaked in the darkness, what she shared with the audience was a character of gentleness and newness that promised that everything and anything was possible; especially if they believed it to be so. She loved this portrayal because it made her feel very mysterious and because she had to work a bit harder at connecting with the audience since they could not see her. But, she knew this was one of her many gifts and that despite there being no brilliance of the spotlight, she was immense in her presence.

Although she had played these roles every year as the troupe was routinely called to encore performances, each year was different. As she grew in the roles she realized she had more effect in creating that surreal setting that the audience craved as they stepped from their daily mundane tasks and entered the Cosmic Theater. Luna also noted that each year the audience also seemed to have grown in their need and expectations to be transported away from the routine of their ordinary lives.  This year, in particular, there were many who had had challenges and loss that had taken hope away from them. She could feel this emptiness when she stood before them and she could feel their immense need for healing. She decided that this would be the vision she would create for them as the outpouring of her love would fill the theater.

Excited about her opportunity and choice in what she would portray, Luna took a long deep breath and stood, pools of liquid grey eyes scanning her dressing room. She reached out a graceful hand and picked up a long black veil that would be used to hide her face. The gown she wore was the deepest black imagined and dotted in very distinct patterns with diamonds that glowed like starlight and would ensure that she blended into the backdrop of scenery. The gown flowed around her like water, moving in resonance to each step she took as she walked towards the stage.

She paused just at the edge; the threshold between preparation and dressing room and the sacred have of where the tale would play out and the gifts would be shared. She looked out onto the stage and although dimly lit could see the golden sheen of the scales of balance that were a featured prop in this presentation of this yearly play.  They were perfect and would soon be lit in the spotlight, and both she and her co-actor, Sol would have a turn at bringing those scales in balance.

Sol, was also a luminary and had been with the Celestial Troupe from the time of its formation.  He was brilliant in his portrayals and the most charismatic of them all in  attracting attention and claiming the spotlight.  He could also be very brash in his ways, burning through relationships and alliances if they remained too close to his magnificence.  Luna was the only one who kept enough distance between them so that she did not feel the brunt of his persona, or cloaked herself when it was required that they intimately share the same space.

In fact, it was Sol who brought Luna to the attention of the director. She had been there from the start of the troupe as well, but she had been in the background and her demeanor was not one of drawing attention. This soon changed on a star-filled night when Sol noticed Luna for the first time. While on stage, curiosity had taken hold and forgetting her place, Luna gently stepped out of her place in the chorus and began to approach Sol for a closer look. Feeling her unmistakable presence and forgetting his lines, Sol turned his gaze towards her as she crossed the stage and his radiant smile lit up her beautiful face as all turned to see who had caught his eye.

They remained in adoration of one another for several days and during the course of that play, Luna claimed her place and title as luminary, as the fullness and extent of her talents won her a place in the hearts of the audiences. This new dynamic between the two now gave the creator of any of the plays an opportunity to use their combined energies as draws for bigger crowds and each month the action centered around a theme of Luna and Sol.  However, for tonight and the next few days, Luna would be the focus of attention, hidden or not.

The noisy sounds of the audience arriving as they filled the theater brought Luna back to the goal at hand as the thoughts of Sol and their long history flashed through her as she stood in the silent darkened wings of the stage.  She moved towards the closed veiling of curtain and, as she was accustomed to doing, gently parted it looking out to see how full the audience was and perhaps catch a glimpse of any who caught her attention. Now her thoughts centered on another observation about this performance. Each year she had noted that the audience seemed to be larger than in other performances enacted throughout the year. The energy she sensed from those gathered was thick and dense. She would look out into the assembled audience and some were clearly defined and couldn’t be more real in their presence. But, interspersed were those who she could not clearly see and at times looked as though they did not belong in this space, let alone this time. There was nothing solid about them and they seemed to be in places where there was no obvious seating. She had always chalked this impression up to the results of stage jitters and dismissed it.  So, in looking out tonight, she didn’t question what she was seeing and gently pulled the curtain back, closed and ready.

She stepped onto the center mark of the stage, picked up the scales and waited in the darkness as a hush fell over the theater. Luna heard the familiar first notes of the prelude coming from the pit played masterfully by the Planetary Orchestra, and carried on the otherworldly sounds, she slid easily into her role as the beauty of the harmonies flowed through her. The curtain opened and the stage was pitch black, save for the starlit diamonds on Luna’s gown……
