Self-Hypnosis: Easy Ways to Hypnotize Your Problems Away

Self-Hypnosis:
Easy Ways to Hypnotize Your Problems Away
by Dr. Bruce Goldberg
New Page Books

I was skeptical at best when I picked up this book. Self-hypnosis has always seemed to be too good to be true. Most of what I had previously read on the subject was a combination of pseudo-New Age meditation, hype, and recto-fumigation. However, Dr. Goldberg’s book presents hypnosis in a serious and scientific way.

“Dr. Goldman’s book good. Other hypnosis books bad. Buy Dr. Goldman’s book.”

Just kidding.

In all seriousness, this book approaches hypnosis as a tool towards self-improvement, not a snake-oil remedy that will cure everything from ulcerative colitis to astigmatism. The good doctor presents the reader with exercises designed to build a firm foundation, right from the beginning. That foundation is built upon slowly and with explanation, and then expanded with exercises for improving ailments such as impotence and other sexual dysfunctions, bad memory, and various addictions.

Dr. Goldberg’s style of writing is upbeat, dynamic, and even fun, while maintaining a professional tone. His treatment of what could potentially be a dull subject is well thought out, and obviously comes from years of experience.

If you are at all interested in hypnosis, or are familiar with it and looking for some fresh material, I strongly suggest this book.
