Exhale your question
  out and out again
into the fresh North Mountain air

See the answer
  all around
It waddles with leisurely curiosity
  on the path ahead
Or drops blessed from the sky

Hear the answer
  in the rolling songs
  of the Aspen trees
The rhythm of tides
  drumming the shore

Touch the answer
  with hands, feet, heart
  Earth, Water, Fire, Sky
Dancing with mothers, sisters,
  Lovers, friends

Taste the answer
  in tender kisses
  of salty sea and tears
Ripening fruit the earth offers
Words and music on my tongue
  both thanks and prayer

Embrace your question
And an answer will find you

A Power Outage Full Moon Ritual

I’m lying in bed with my lover when the power goes out. The only light in the room is now coming from the moon’s reflection on the snow outside the glass doors. We look at each other, wondering if we caused the outage. We were running a lot of appliances in our room here at Yosemite Falls lodge, we may have blown a fuse.

Moon of Compassion: Full Moon in Cancer on Christmas Day

Christmas has its own unique magick, and this year the light of the Full Moon shines upon Christmas Day. This unusual synchronicity brings forward the many sacred qualities of this season.

The Sun entered the sign of Capricorn on the Winter Solstice. Ruled by Saturn, Capricorn embodies the qualities of discipline, structure, and reason. Protective, cautious, resourceful and prudent, Capricorn represents the Father of the Zodiac. Capricorn sits opposite Cancer, ruled by the Moon, represents the divine feminine's magickal qualities of nurturance, dreams and psychic mastery. The Full Moon in Cancer shines down the Great Mother's divine love, ever-renewing and unconditional, at a moment when much of the world is trying to hold a vision of peace, compassion and generosity that is at the heart of Christmas.

We had a small family full moon ritual last night and incorporated a simple gratitude ritual into it. The sky was overcast so we couldn't actually see the moon, but my four-year-old daughter wanted to get out glow sticks left over from Halloween. We had SO much fun dancing around with them and making patterns in the dark night! We sang a chant I recently made up:

Hallowed evening
Hallowed night
We dance in the shadows
We offer our light.
