A wand is used for directing energy. It is best to make your own wand from found wood and instill it with your personal energy. You can go out into a nearby park orthe woods, a suitable branch that has fallen. Never cut a wand from a tree as that energy will be retained by the wand. Allow Mother Nature to find choose on for you; she is always rights. You might find the perfect weathered wand on a beach as driftwood. Each tree has it distinctive properties:
·Ash, Fraxinus excelsior. Ash grows fast and its seedlings root everywhere, so it’s t persistent. Use ash for prosperity, transformation and self-improvement.
If you are looking for sticks or twigs to use then I would encourage you to look on the ground first rather than cut them direct from the tree. The trees usually provide enough twiggy gifts without the need for cutting. However if you do need to cut a twig or small branch from a tree please do ask permission first, just let the tree know what you need it for and always cut cleanly, never rip it from the tree otherwise infection can set in.
As I cross the St. John's Bridge and start up the hill toward my usual Forest Park trailhead, my stomach tightens with anticipation. I've been praying for renewal, for a re-awakening of my spiritual awareness, and today I'm returning to my favorite woods for the first time in months. I walked this path several times a week last summer and fall, finding the sacred in the creaking trees and cool shadows.
