Your tarot deck is a fabulous tool for magick. Each card carries specific energy. You can use your cards as altar tools to invoke energies and entities. You can use your cards to offer protection, to quickly usher in change and to assist with healing.

You can use tarot as part of formal magick in ritual. You can also use tarot in casual magick by carrying an image with you or pinning an image to your wall.

Here are some ways tarot assists in magick.

Invocation

The tarot Aces and the tarot Court cards can serve as altar tools to invoke the Four Elements. Major Arcana and Court cards can be used to invoke deities. In a ritual designed for spirit communication you can choose tarot cards to represent the spirits with who you wish to communicate.

Attraction

Is there something you need to attract into your life, such as a new job or a new home? Simply choose a tarot card with the divinatory meaning of what you need to attract. You can use that card in a ritual designed to attract what you need. You can keep that card on your altar, or print its image and carry it with you or pin it to you wall. You can even find tarot card jewelry to wear.

You can use just one card in tarot magick, or a few.

Here are some examples of cards you might use.

If you want to go to school use the Magician, the Pages and the Eight of Pentacles.

If you want a new job use the Ace of Pentacles and the Three of Pentacles.

If you want to buy, sell or rent a home use the Ten of Pentacles.

If you need a new car use the Chariot and the Knight of Swords.

If you want a fair outcome in a legal matter use Justice.

If you add the Eight of Wands or the Knight of Swords to any tarot magick you will insure the magick is fulfilled swiftly.

Healing

Healing magick with tarot can take a few forms. You can do attraction magick with cards that bring healing such as the Star and Temperance.

You can do banishment magick with cards that indicate a problem.  Banish energies like depression with the Nine of Swords or poverty mentality with the Four and Five of Pentacles.

If you have a broke deck or print out images of cards you can actually destroy a card in a ritual. Simply acknowledge that the energy of this card has existed in your life and you are ready to release it. Then destroy the image. If you are working with your regular tarot deck simply turn the card face down on your altar instead.

You can also use the cards in meditation. If you seek wisdom, use the High Priestess card. As you focus on the image visualize yourself entering the card.  Approach the High Priestess and ask for her guidance. Listen to what she tells you.

You can also enter cards in meditation and take a particular action. If you are looking for strength while quitting smoking you can visualize yourself as one of the human captives of the Devil. In meditation lift the chains off your neck and walk away.

Magick for Others

You can use tarot magick to heal other people by choosing a significator card for them. A significator is a card that represents a person. Quite often we use Court cards as significators, often based on age, gender and astrology. Chose the significator and then choose cards to represent the energy you want to attract to that person.

The magickal potential of tarot is as great as your imagination and your understanding of the cards. When you look through your deck consider the power of the images and the ways in which they can work in your life. Incorporate tarot into your regular magickal practice, or use tarot to inspire new ways to work magick in your life!
