Middle Earth Magic: Inspired Ideas and Seasonal Spells for Your Enchanted Life
I grew up on a farm in West Virginia and learned much about herbs, trees, animals, gardening, foraging and so much about nature. I incorporate this wisdom I learned from elders in my family into my spellwork. When I finally left the farm, I majored in Medieval Studies, my attempt to emulate my idol, J.R.R. Tolkien. All these influences led me to my own blended brew which I call "middle earth magic," containing a mix of the modern and the time-tested "old ways."
Soothe-Your-Spirits Self-care Spell
Such earthly elements as simple and salt and pepper can be part of your self-healing, I learned about the strong protective magic of black pepper from the great Scott Cunningham himself . I recommend this as a rite to ether begin your day with in the soft morning light or at twilight, when the sun is weakening. This will both soothe and raise your spirit, offering quiet contentment and a fresh perspective.
Gather together:
2 cups Epsom Salts
1 teaspoon black pepper
½ cup apricot kernel carrier oil (can substitute jojoba)
1 ounce aloe vera gel
6 drop sandalwood
8 drops jasmine essential oil
1 glass bowl and wooden spoon or paddle
Place the salts and pepper in the bowl first and stir, . Now add in the carrier oil and mix well. Lastly, add in the essential oil and stir very well. Shake the mixture together and pour as much as you like into your bath under the running faucet . (The ingredients must be premixed so the power of the oil isn’t diluted by the water before their magical properties bond.) This therapeutic soak will do wonderful for mood and your skin Speak aloud:
My mind is clear,
my spirit soars.

I am whole,
I am at peace.
