Middle Earth Magic: Inspired Ideas and Seasonal Spells for Your Enchanted Life
I grew up on a farm in West Virginia and learned much about herbs, trees, animals, gardening, foraging and so much about nature. I incorporate this wisdom I learned from elders in my family into my spellwork. When I finally left the farm, I majored in Medieval Studies, my attempt to emulate my idol, J.R.R. Tolkien. All these influences led me to my own blended brew which I call "middle earth magic," containing a mix of the modern and the time-tested "old ways."
True Love Tea
- 1 ounce dried hibiscus flowers
- 1 ounce dried and pulverized rose hips
- 1⁄2 ounce dried lemon balm
- 1⁄2 ounce dried mint (ideally peppermint)
- 1⁄2 ounce dried meadowsweet
To make tea, add two teaspoons of herbs for each cup of boiled water. Steep for five minutes while visualizing your heart’s desire, and before straining, say aloud:
as in the Olde Garden of Love.
Read the Tea Leaves
After sipping your tea, let the leaves guide you to your lover’s lair. The answer to where you should make love lies at the bottom of the cup.
As you study the leaves, keep in mind that the tea cup handle is south, and going clockwise around the circle, left is west, the top is north, and the east is to the right of the handle when the handle is toward you.
- North, you should tryst outside
- West, you should go to your bedroom
- South is in the kitchen or living room
- East is at your lover’s house
