Gnosis Diary: Life as a Heathen
My personal experiences, including religious and spiritual experiences, community interaction, general heathenry, and modern life on my heathen path, which is Asatru.
Heathen Visibility Project How To
What is the Project?
A movement to fill search engine returns on keywords like Asatru, Thor’s hammer, etc. with images of actual Asatru and other Heathen people, symbols, events, objects, etc. The Project is intended to provide images freely available for the editorial use of media and reporters such as newspapers, bloggers, magazines, journalists, etc. so that articles about Asatru, Heathens, etc. will be illustrated with actual images of Asatru, Heathens, etc. instead of images of Nazis, comic book characters, and so on which have been often seen in news articles about us.
How to Create and Share:
Create:
Make photos or illustrations of rituals, heathens doing heathen things, heathens and non-heathens doing things together, symbols, altars, etc. If you take photos of other people, please only include people who want to be included.
Share:
Use the hashtag heathenvisibility on your social media posts on sites that use hashtags, or the keyword heathenvisibility on sites that use keywords and tags without hashes. Use other appropriate keywords and hashtags, too. If you’re using an art or photography site that allows galleries or special sets, you can make a whole Heathen Visibility Project gallery or set in addition to uploading individual images.
How to Use the Images:
Find:
Find Project images by searching the hashtag or keyword heathenvisibility.
Narrow your search by combining the hashtag or keyword heathenvisibility with the subject you are interested in illustrating, such as Asatru, Heathen Symbols, etc. You can search via a search engine or directly on a website such as Twitter, Shutterstock, DeviantArt, Instagram, etc.
Also you can go directly to Project galleries using the links in the post Heathen Visibility Project Resources for Editorial Use.
Publish:
All Project images are Creative Commons license images free to use for editorial purposes, unless marked “public domain” on its original upload. Attribution is only required if so marked on its original upload.
