Hedge Witch: Into the Wilds…
Let me take you on a journey through the wilds of nature and back to the roots and bones of witchcraft, a natural witchcraft that works with the seasons and all the natural items that Mother Nature provides drawing on magical folk lore with a dash of hedge witch and gypsy magic too.
Magical energy & the time of day
Energy of the day
There are some time points during the day that lend themselves to magic, you don’t have to work in tune with them but I encourage you to give it a try and see what you get from it.
Dawn
When the sun rises over the horizon and a new day begins. As a working wife and mother I don’t often have time to go and sit on the beach or on top of a hill to experience the sunrise, it just doesn’t fit in with school runs and work schedules but…if you get a free morning it is worth making the effort even if you just watch it from your back garden.
This is a time of day when things move slowly (well for most of us that is true until after the first cup of coffee right?). Dawn does not have a sense of hurry about it, dawn likes to move gently. The sunrise lends itself to gentle magic that brings renewal, rebirth and restoration.
If you don’t have the time or means to sit and watch the sunrise how about greeting the sun when you get up in the morning? Whether the sun has been awake for a few minutes or a few hours it feels good to give it a nod of appreciation and a greeting to start your day.
Noon
The sun is now at the height of its travel and the clock strikes the day time witching hour of twelve. It is an energy filled time of the day so make the most of it. Stand outside and shout to the world, the universe and the divine let them know what your hopes, dreams and desires are…put it out there! It is a time of strength, passion and creativity.
The middle of the day has a really strong earth and fire energy to it, use that in your spell working to the best advantage. If you don’t have any workings to do, then maybe get out your drum and join the sun in some energetic drumming and dancing.
Dusk
At the twilight of the day we are surrounded in a much calmer somehow mysterious type of energy. It makes me think of the mists coming down onto the moors with a shadowy magic about it.
This is a time of the day to look inwards for insight and inspiration but also to connect with the Otherworld to gain clarity.
Take some time to look, listen and think; map out your web of life in front of you and follow the threads so that you know what adjustments need to be made.
Dusk is a very personal spiritual time of the day.
At the midnight hour
Midnight…the witching hour when all around us is in darkness. The midnight hours are perfect for spirit communication on a deep level to seek answers to mysteries of life, the universe and everything.
Scrying, divination, meditation and candle magic work well in the dark hours and of course if the moon is not dark we can see and work with her beautiful face in full view.
