PaganNewsBeagle Airy Monday 18

In today's dispatch we include "airy" topics both literal and metaphorical: two stories of NASA space science, and three accounts of Pagan topics in academic circles.

This story is a personal favorite: a team of amateurs and retired scientists have "recaptured" a NASA satellite in the first-ever case of "citizen" astrophysics.

NASA announces the deployment of an important new satellite designed to study atmospheric C02 and climate change.

World's oldest known ritual site discovered: a startling archaeological discovery this summer changes our understanding of human history. While, up until now, scholars have largely held that man’s first rituals were carried out over 40, 000 years ago in Europe, it now appears that they were wrong about both the time and place.

Pagan academic journal "The Pomegranate" announces a double issue, including a special section on gender in Paganism, along with articles on prayer in Paganism, a critique of "Pagan studies" as an academic discipline and much more. The table of contents of the entire issue is found here.

This report describes Pagan panels at the 2014 meeting of the Association for the Sociology of Religion.
