In Phoenix and On Radio in October

Hear me in October on online radio and at an outdoor in-person event, a booksigning for my new book Asatru: A Beginner's Guide to the Heathen Path. I'm not making a full book tour this year because of the pandemic, but I am venturing one state over to Phoenix, Arizona to hold an outdoor booksigning and storytelling at Fantasia Crystals on October 24 from 5pm-6:30pm. In case of rain the reading room will be available as a backup venue. Books will be available for purchase on the day, and also in advance at the shop.

I'm planning to tell the story of Freya's jewel, Brisingamen. There's a chapter in my unpublished novel Some Say Fire that recounts a version of that myth. The chapter contains a lot of gnosis, and my storytelling will be based on that chapter.

While running errands the other day, I convinced my husband to make a side-trip to Raven and Crone. Set inside a small red brick building, R&C is the metaphysical book and occult supply shop in the Appalachian region of North Carolina. As I wandered the floor, greeting the on-site tarot reader, admiring the icons and plaques and Green Men and shelves of books and shelves of tarot cards and rune necklaces and glass jars filled with dried herbs -- and paused to pet the store cat, Lovey -- I started to wonder: what would my ideal Pagan-friendly book shop look like? Pretty soon, I was drawing up imaginary schematics in my head and filling imaginary shelves with anything and everything that might be of interest or use to a modern polytheist.

Welcome to Sanctuary. Would you like to take a tour?

Pagan News Beagle: Airy Monday, July 20

Welcome back to the Pagan News Beagle. Four our weekly segment Airy Monday today we have a selection of stories about reboots—that is to say up and coming re-imaginings of popular franchises that scrap previous continuity in favor of starting fresh. In particular, we have several pieces on magical, religious, or paranormal-themed fiction that are getting reboots, from Xena: The Warrior Princess to Ghostbusters to even the Arthurian fiction of T.H. White (by way of Disney). All this and more for the Pagan News Beagle!
