Wearing the Wrong Clothes

Clothes symbolize the version of yourself that you show to other people, or how others perceive you. If you are having a dream that you are dressed inappropriately, whether that’s wearing a wedding dress to a baseball game or gym clothes to the school dance, your subconscious self might be trying to tell you that it’s time to stop worrying about how people perceive you and to start expressing yourself freely. We tend to dress up based on what sort of image we want to show to others, but in putting up this sort of front, you might be stifling your own individuality—trading who you really are for who you think others want you to be. What your clothes feel like can tell you something about yourself as well: too-tight clothes are a sign that there is something in your waking life that is holding you back, while clothes that are too loose can indicate that you are feeling inadequate. It is possible that you are also in a circumstance that you feel unprepared for.

Being Naked in Public

You’re going about your day, walking to school, shopping at the mall, riding the bus, when suddenly you look down to see that you are completely naked. Maybe you duck behind a tree or desperately search your backpack for something to cover up with. This is a particularly common dream, and it is also one that can have a variety of meanings depending on the context. It is important to recognize the feelings you associate with your dream, as this will help you to uncover its meaning.

Most often, naked dreams are associated with feelings of insecurity. Nudity represents vulnerability—your clothes act as a shield to protect you, and, once that shield is gone, you may feel exposed and defenseless. In your waking life you may be too concerned about how others perceive you, or perhaps you are in a situation that is making you feel helpless. Nudity might also indicate that there is something in your life you are trying to hide from the people around you, such as a secret, or an insecurity that you feel might bring you embarrassment if your friends knew about it. If you are in a situation where you are hoping to impress others, your dream might be telling you that you are trying to be someone else. You aren’t being true to yourself, and you fear that if your classmates find out who you really are, they might judge you. Being naked in your dream can be a hint that you are unprepared for something as well. Do you feel unprepared for a school project? A test? There may be something in your waking life that has caught you off guard and is causing you anxiety. Your subconscious might even be trying to tell you that you’re holding yourself to a standard that is too high for you to meet.

Make Your Own Dream Journal

Nowadays, you can find really cool notebooks and blank journals so many places and I admit I like to get ones for a dollar from the stores named after the dollar. Wither it is a pharmacy, a stationary ship or a box box stores, may options are there for you to then make your own. The really great thing is that all these stores also have glitter, cool pens, ribbons and stickers galore so you can customize dream journal to look exactly like you want it. My latest one has stickers of crystals- amethyst, topaz, red garnet and many more and I took a purple amethyst-colored glitter pen to create s swirly and cool-looking My Dream Journal on the cover of the notebook. What are your favorite colors or those hues that symbolizes imagination and the domain of dreams to you? Go for it and really decorate and bling it up so that your love it and it clearly represents you and what you like.

I keep it on my nightstand with a purple-inked pen and write down my dreams when I wake up. Even the very ordinary dreams that seem a bit boring go in there. What was amazing is that, after month, some patterns were revealed as an old friend I had not talked to for years and year kept appearing in my dream. Once I saw that from reviewing my dream notes, I contacted her and it turned out that she was having a bit life challenge and was overjoyed to hear from me. She also like hearing that she was in my dreams and said she loved knowing that she “was on my mind.” It is true! She was and I only discovered that because I recorded the dreams I remembered upon waking.

This little piggy went to Knossos...

CW: animal sacrifice

Everyone knows the Minoans had cattle - the Minotaur is testament to that fact, as are the many bovine head rhytons and cattle figurines found at Minoan sites. Most people have heard that they had sheep and goats, and no one is surprised that they ate fish and shellfish, given that they lived on an island.

The Mystery of Minoan Papyrus

When someone says "papyrus," most people think of Egypt - specifically, ancient Egypt with papyrus plants growing along the banks of the Nile and being made into sheets of material to write on.

People don't often think of the Minoans in connection with papyrus. But papyrus appears in Minoan art more than you might think. And we're still not quite sure what it means.

Wings and Things: Minoan Airborne Symbolism

We often think of deities as being less tethered to the Earth than we are, so it only makes sense that many of them have winged creatures among their symbols and iconography.

I've written about birds in Minoan art before, but from a more general perspective, looking back toward the Minoans' ancestors in Neolithic Anatolia. But a lot happened after those people migrated down to Crete and began a new life there. So let's discover which birds - and other winged creatures - are associated with which deities in Modern Minoan Paganism.
