Spell for Attracting New Love

To attract new love, two nights before the full moon, take a small pink votive candle and place it inside your cauldron or any large metal pot. Lay a rose and a bell beside the cauldron and your altar. Use either rose or apple blossom essential oil to anoint the candle’s wick. For the next two nights, light the candle, cup it in your hands, and direct loving thoughts into its flame. On the night of the full moon, take a thorn from the rose and carve the name of your heart’s desire into the candle’s wax, reciting:

I will find true love.

The Myth, Mystery, and Meaning of Rings

Rings have been a meaningful adornment from the times of the ancient Egyptians, through the age of the Greeks, and on into today. Throughout history, though rings have at times served as mere decoration, they have also indicated rank, and they have symbolized deeper meanings such as eternity, reincarnation, energy, unity, power, and, safety. If a ring is set with a stone, it can bind you with the energy of that stone. Some Native Americans wear turquoise, and that power doubles when the stone is set in a ring. Some even interpret the presence of a ring in a dream as representing a desire for reconciliation of the different parts of your personality. The use of amber in a ring can help deepen a friendship if two amber rings are exchanged between friends.

The way you wear a ring—on which hand and on which finger—affects your energy. The bottom of the ring setting should be open, allowing the stone to be closer to your skin. Thumb rings have become a popular trend, but they block the energy of the thumb, awakening egoism and selfishness.

Two Hearts Beat as One: Ritual Rub

I always giggle when I see over-the-counter sesame body oil in the pharmacy. Unknowingly, a woman will apply the oil and never understand why she feels so much sexier and attracts more glances her way. While that marketplace version will do in a pinch, a potion you’ve made yourself will be ten times as effective. You can use it as a skin softener or a massage oil.

In a cup of almond and sesame oil, add twenty drops of musk, sandalwood, or orange blossom oil. Shake well and heat very slowly and carefully. I use a clay oil warmer with a votive candle beneath, but the stovetop will do.

Tie the Knot of True Love

If you are truly interested in long-term love, this spell is for you. This love spell may not actually result in a proposal and marriage, but the rings are a powerful symbol to help bring true love your way. You’ll need:

  • White rope
  • 1 fresh red rose, with stem
  • 2 plain gold rings (Rings in a gold color are fine)
  •  Fine white sand (easily available at a craft store)

You can use thick yarn instead of the rope, but string just won’t do. Tie a knot in the center of the rope around the stem of the rose. Slide the two rings down the two ends of the rope up to the knot, then tie the rope again to secure them.

Heartstrings: Bind Your Love to You

On a small piece of paper, write the name of your would-be love in red ink and roll up the scroll. Anoint the paper with rose or amber essential oil. Tie the scroll with red threads, incanting one line of the following spell per knot:
