Two Cards, One Goal

What do you want and how can you get it?

Here is a fun and meaningful tarot exercise that offers an insightful reading and a powerful bit of magick.

This can be a great group exercise, or a meaningful part of a ritual.

Begin by meditating on your wants and needs.

What do you want in your life?

What do you need?

What would you like to attract into your life?

Ground, center and connect with your Higher Self. Invite your Deities, or whatever energies you work with, to participate in your meditation. Ask for their guidance and power as you seek to manifest your goal.

Once you have a sense of focus, or feel some inspiration, pick up your tarot deck.

Instead of drawing cards at random, look through the deck to find one card that you choose cognitively, based on the image and your feeling about the card.

This card will answer the question “What do I want?” and will illustrate something that you want to manifest in your life.

For instance, if you want a great job, you might choose the Three of Pentacles. If you want to get pregnant, you might choose the Empress. If you want a new home, the Ten of Pentacles. If you want a great love relationship, the Two of Cups. If you want educational opportunities, the Hierophant. If you want healing, the Star.

You may choose a card based on your knowledge of its classic interpretation, and the way that interpretation matches your goal.

You may choose a card based on your reaction to the image, or the way the image seems to illustrate your goal.

You may choose a card simply because you feel an intuitive pull toward it, but make sure you can verbalize and visualize the way it embodies your goal.

Now, take the card you have chosen, and spend a few minutes with it.

Breathe the energy of the card in, and affirm that it will immediately start driving you toward you goal.

Hold the card to your heart, and make a deep connection with its energy.

Once you feel complete, return the card to the deck and shuffle.

Now you will perform a one-card divination to complete the exercise. Having invoked your Higher Power to your magick, you will now ask that Higher Power to guide your hand, and your divination.

The question you will ask of the cards is this.

What must I do to bring my goal to fruition?

Pull a single card, and interpret this as a direct answer from Spirit.

If you happen to get the same card you had chosen early, take this as an auspicious sign that your goal is already on its way to fulfillment.

Otherwise, take a few moments to interpret this card in the context of the question.

How does the energy of this card help you?

What does this card instruct you to do, or to avoid?

Consider how this card can inform your actions going forward.

Make a commitment to follow its advice.

Once you have a clear vision of the advice the card has provided, spend a moment in meditation with it, breathing in its energy to strengthen your resolve and motivation, and increase your ability to follow the card’s advice.

Take a final moment of meditation in gratitude for what is already yours, and for what you are now manifesting.
